Josh Furniss – Golf Operations Manager
Josh joined Akarana on 16th May 2024. He is originates from Derby, England and working in the golf industry for 21 years. For the past 8 years he has didicated his working career to contributing to the thriving golf industry in Auckland, New Zealand. His passion for sports extends beyond just playing golf at professional level, including competing within the CrossFit space.
Josh brings with him sound business ethics with a Business Degree in Sports Marketing & Management from the UK's #1 Business School, Manchester Metroploitan University, a strong empathy towards others and a resonating passion for improving the standard of service to golf, delighting others and making a difference within the community.

George Flynn - Course Superintendent
George was appointed as Course Superintendent in February 2024. George's career in golf course maintenence spans over 12 years within the turf industry, beginning as apprentice greenkeeper at The Royal Auckland Golf Club where he became a qualified sports turf manager. He then moved on to Pukekohe Golf Club where he held the role of course manager for a few years before being offered the assistant superintendent role at the Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club.
George has been fortunate enough to volunteer internationally at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass as well as the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship at Royal Melbourne Golf Club. In 2017 he was awarded the Sports Turf Industry Award with merit. He is an active member of the turf industry and has previously held the role of President of the Auckland Golf Course Superintendents Association.
Outside of work, George is a family man, plays a bit of golf and is involved in coaching of his sons rugby, cricket and soccer teams.

Amit Kumar joined us in 2021 as our Bar Manager and has been a key part of the team ever since. With over a decade of experience in five-star hotels across New Zealand and internationally, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our bar. Amit holds a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and has a strong background in mixology, attention to detail, and guest service. His warm, professional approach and creative flair ensure every guest enjoys a memorable experience.

Tina Heath - Office Administration, Corporate Partnership & Membership Manager
Tina Heath brings more than 30 years of business leadership and customer relationship experience to Akarana Golf Club. As General Manager of TEI NZ Limited and Tauranga Engineering Industries Limited, she has built a successful international business, working with clients across New Zealand, Australia, and South East Asia while overseeing operations, strategic planning, and customer service.
At Akarana Golf Club, Tina is passionate about creating positive experiences for members and visitors alike. She enjoys building strong relationships with members, corporate partners, and the wider golfing community, ensuring every interaction reflects the Club's welcoming and professional culture. With a practical, solutions-focused approach and a genuine commitment to exceptional service, Tina is dedicated to supporting the continued growth and success of Akarana Golf Club.
Having recently taken up golf herself, she has quickly developed a real passion for the game and enjoys experiencing the Club from a member's perspective. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, who share her enthusiasm for sport and have a particular passion for football.

Anthony Pereira joined Akarana in April 2023, bringing over 15 years of international hospitality experience to the team. From front-of-house leadership to back-of-house expertise as a Charge Baker, he's done it all.
With a passion for food and a strong work ethic, Anthony is known for his hands-on approach and commitment to quality. Whether managing events or perfecting food production, he's always focused on delivering exceptional service.
