She Loves Golf — Beginner Coaching Programme

1. What is She Loves Golf?

She Loves Golf is Akarana Golf Club's introductory golf coaching programme, designed to help women discover the game in a fun, relaxed and welcoming environment. You'll learn the fundamentals of golf with PGA professionals, develop your skills and meet other women who are starting their golfing journey.

2. Do I need any previous golf experience?

Not at all! She Loves Golf is ideal for complete beginners. Whether you've never held a golf club before or have had a little experience, the programme will help you get started at your own pace.

3. What will I learn during the sessions?

You'll learn the basics of golf, including grip, stance, swing fundamentals, putting, chipping, and an introduction to the rules and etiquette of the game. The aim is to develop your skills and confidence and help prepare you for playing on the course.

4. Do I need my own golf clubs?

Golf club availability needs to be confirmed before your session. Please contact the programme organiser or Akarana Golf Shop before attending to discuss whether clubs can be provided. E: proshop@akaranagolf.co.nz

5. What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, along with trainers or suitable golf shoes. You don't need specialist golf clothing to get started. We recommend dressing appropriately for the weather.

6. Do I need to be an Akarana Golf Club member?

No. She Loves Golf is open to both members and non-members, making it a great opportunity to try golf and become involved in the Akarana community.

9. What if I'm not confident enough to play on the course yet?

That's absolutely fine! There is no pressure to progress before you're ready. The coaching sessions give you time to learn and practise. Your coaches will help you determine when you're ready to take the next step towards playing on the course as part of the program.

Tee Off Tuesday — Your Next Step

10. What is Tee Off Tuesday?

Tee Off Tuesday is the next step in your golfing journey after She Loves Golf. It's designed for women who are ready to move from the practice area onto the golf course and experience playing nine holes in a relaxed, social environment.

You'll play alongside women of similar ability, helping you build confidence, gain experience and enjoy the game without the pressure of formal competition.

11. How do I know when I'm ready to join Tee Off Tuesday?

Speak with your She Loves Golf coaches. They'll help you assess your confidence and readiness to play nine holes and recommend when you're ready to progress.

The aim isn't to be an expert golfer. It's about having the basic skills and confidence to give playing on the course a go.

12. How many holes will we play?

Tee Off Tuesday involves playing up to nine holes of golf. This provides a manageable introduction to playing on the course without the time commitment of a full 18-hole round. Players are expected to keep to the times on the scorecard to play the 9 holes in 1 hour 50 mins to 2 hours.

13. Which tees will we play from?

You'll play from either the Red (beginner) or Yellow (women advanced) Tees, depending on the session arrangements and guidance provided. These options help make the course more approachable as you develop your skills and confidence. Play a combination of the 2 tees if you are just starting out.

14. Will there be a coach with us during the round?

No formal coaching is provided during Tee Off Tuesday. However, a starter will be available at the first tee before you begin. They'll run through the essential rules and course etiquette, answer any last-minute questions and help ensure you're comfortable before heading out to play.

15. What if I don't know all the rules of golf?

You don't need to know every rule before joining. The starter will cover the essential rules and etiquette you need to get started safely and confidently. You'll continue learning as you gain experience on the course. Helpful tools to learn the rules of golf, download the R&A Rules of Golf App where there are quizzes you can do in your own time to learn the rules of golf along with Youtube videos explaining the basics as you get started.

16. Who will I play with?

You'll play socially alongside women of similar ability. The focus is on enjoying the experience, meeting other golfers and building confidence in a welcoming environment.

17. Do I need a golf handicap to participate?

No. A golf handicap is not required to take part in Tee Off Tuesday. The programme is designed to help you gain experience and confidence playing on the course, rather than focus on competition or handicap-based scoring.
