HOLDEN
SCRAMBLE
AKARANA GOLF CLUB
SATURDAY AUGUST 19TH 2006
Akarana's Holden Scramble for 2006 was played recently in cloudy but fine conditions on the par 70 course which has dried remarkably after the heavy rains of recent months.
Club Golf Director and PGA member Rex Gould in association with local dealer and club sponsor Schofields of Newmarket presented this member and guests-only tournament for the fourth year with a field of 156 players joining in the fun. Scoring on the day matched the splendid conditions of the course with the fast and true greens allowing plenty of birdies to be made.

Local member Graham Voysey was the lucky recipient of this prize and he is still smiling from ear to ear! The generous sponsorship of Schofields allowed for prizes to the top 10 teams in the event. The top three teams also receive their entry fees for the regional scramble paid.
All players also received a pre starting pack which included lunch and many goodies. After prize giving which was kept to strict timeframes so not to clash with the All Blacks test versus Australia at Eden Park a large crowd stayed to enjoy the game with a meal and open bar provided by Schofields of Newmarket.

Many thanks to Georgie and her team for the magnificent work in decorating the clubhouse and bar. Once again the amazing streak of hole in ones continued at the Akarana scramble with local member Alan Quek aceing the 16th hole with a well struck 5 iron. This brings the total to three aces in four years at the Akarana scramble.
The club must thank Rex Gould and his team for all the hard work they put into running this years event and to our sponsor Schofields of Newmarket, Thanks to Phil Dixon & Terry Honan for your terrific sponsorship in what is, in the words of Jim Cleland (PGA Holden Scramble Organiser) “the best Holden Scramble in New Zealand”.
