Installation of the new sprinkling
system for the 18th fairway occurred on the week of
the 21st to 25th February - the hole was shortened for
play for 4 days as the Akarana Ground staff worked on
digging the deep drains required for the pipes and electronics
that will allow for the placement of sprinklers, keeping
the course in top nick throughout the year. Work was
slowed once we realised how much rock there was under
the ground, but all was back to normal within 7 days.
The fairway will now be reseeded to repair the turf
on the drain lines. Please treat all drain lines as
GUR.
A pat on the back to Steve and the
boys for a job well done - Akarana members will appreciate
the work and investment during those warm summer months
to come....
