Meet
Bob Johnston
This jovial Glaswegian takes great
pride in preparing high quality food for hungry members
and visitors to the club.
Born in the 40's in Glasgow, Scotland, Robert Paul
Johnston was an apprentice footballer from '57-'59.
His culinary career began early as apprentice chef
at the House of Marlborough in Glasgow. He joined
the merchant navy as 2nd chef in 1959 and has served
on various cargo ships, cruise liners and oil tankers.
Bob came to New Zealand in 1965 and worked in such
fine establishments as El Matador, The Newmarket Club,
Eden Roskill RSA as well as owner/operator at Castle
Regal Reception Lounge in Remuera and Juliana's Club
& Resturant in Auckland City.
Bob is married to Sharon, who you may well meet in
the clubhouse (see her fine cakes above) and has 4
children and 4 grandchildren.
His sports interests are Soccer and Golf and in his
spare time he considers interests himself with art
culinaire and wine appreciation.
