Womens Captain Update Sept 2017

Hello Ladies,

Isn't it lovely when the weather turns a little warmer- the washing takes half the time to dry!

Duckling update.

You will be pleased to note, we still have 5 fluffy Paradise ducklings. There were some other ducklings, not sure how many there were but I could only see 2 or 3. Chickens are still clucking. End of wildlife report…….

Saturday 2nd September.

Our 90th celebration party provided us with  eating, a little drinking, a lot of dancing, singing and nostalgia. An amazing  array of memorabilia, a big thank you to all of you who donated items. You needed a day to view all the photos and read  the articles.

Thankfully the compressor was working as we had approximately 400 balloons to blow up, in amongst said balloons, were hidden prizes, many of which were of the cash variety. Huge thank you to Rae Riggir and her team .A great night was had by all. Looking forward to our 100th!

Monday 4th September.

Another very successful 9 hole open day. Ladies from as far as Whangaparoa in the north and Pukekohe in the south – 10 different clubs represented. Winners on the day were our own  Shirley Shadbolt and Marlene Moyle.  The course was in pretty good condition considering the rain we have had and we were lucky with a beautiful sunny day. Well done to Marlene and her team.

Future dates / events to remember.

Thursday September 14th  at  7.30 Club AGM

I would encourage you to come, this is your opportunity to see how our club works, financial position  and future projects .You will also be able to put faces to the names of your  board  and committees etc..

Friday 22nd  September.

Men's Blue day. Not sure of the ins and outs yet, but I am sure all donations will be gratefully received. More on this later.

Election Day Saturday 23rd.

All I can say is – don't forget to vote.

Sunday 24th September

Daylight savings starts…………… roll on summer.

Monday 25th. to Friday 29th  is coring week.

Remember your golf passports.

Those of you volunteering at the LPGA at  Windross Farm, should be receiving emails direct by now . Justine is also keeping us up to date. Thank you, Justine for being our go to girl.

Saturday 30th, after coring.

We have decided the entire day will be a Russian Pairs day and the Scramble will also be a Russian Pairs, with hidden holes (which will be more random under the format).  You can have any type of pair, ie men's pair, women's pair, mixed pair. There is an advantage to playing in a mixed pair, as the shot holes are different for men  and women. Also a suggestion would be a high and low handicap pair up.

It is suggested  you play together in the same four so you can work out your tactics together, so the men and ladies in the morning can play in the same group etc.

If any of the ladies want a male partner, Michael Connor knows of half a dozen men  who would join up with the ladies  Otherwise  you need to organise yourselves in that respect . Entry cost will be $5 per person – open to all full playing members.

Thursday 12th October

Twilight starts………

Welcome to new ladies

You will probably notice we have some new faces joining Akarana. Welcome to you all.

We hope you enjoy your golf with us.

Regards to all .
