The John Raynor Trophy Comes Home at Last!
Youth - As In 'Youthink they're Seniors the way they played!'

Well its better late than never!

So the saying goes, but I must say that the long wait was worth it. A selection of six juniors made the trek to Tauranga Golf Club on Saturday morning, where we were greeted by their club captain and treated to a great lunch.

Seve Ha, Josh Heares, Fraser Rudolph, Taira Rangi Te Rito, Jonathan Radcliff, Hayden McCallum
The Winning Team

Our team made up of Seve Ha, Josh Heares, Fraser Rudolph, Taira Rangi Te Rito, Jonathan Radcliff and last but not least Hayden McCallum who was the team captain.

The boys started quite well and most managed to take an early lead, however not everything goes according to plan and soon some of our team were falling behind in a big way.

Of special note Jonathan was down by 5 and managed to win his match by two. Another magical performance was that of Josh who managed to beat the current Senior Stroke Play Champion by two, Fraser absolutely monstered his opponent winning by 6 & 4 of course Seve was his ever reliable self, winning by two. Whilst Taira and Hayden were beaten it was Akarana for the first time to bring the cup back to were it belongs for another year with a 4 to 2 victory.

So you can see with our current crop of juniors and also more on the way I think that Akarana will be rich in talent for the future. I must take this opportunity to thank the boys for being great ambassadors for the club and to Steve Hackett for organising the venue and travelling down with the side.
